The Lords of Kazad Dawr
The elders of the main clans are as follows
Thrund Skalfson, representing Clan Blackhammer
Alarac Steelgaze of Clan Starforger
Borak Svarson of Clan Shieldcleaver
and Azdull Thrandinson of Clan Mountaintamer
Overseeing the council was the head priest of Grungni Thorin Bjarson. The clan elders were seated at a large table with Thorin at the end where King Lance would have sat.
All major decesions are made by the council, though minor ones can be made by any of them as long as they have the consent of another clan. This has led to a game of clan politics where each elder is constantly vying for as much power as possible. Each member of the council has had his post for over a century now, and each of them are experts at the game. It would be a mistake to ever underestimate any of them.
The Great Library
Here lies the king's personal collection of ancient tomes. There are books here from as far away as Nippon, each book details the strengths and weaknesses of the many enemies of the dwarven race. Not only that but a vast magnitude of books details the history of the dwarven people, and while it is not complete it puts all but the most richest lord of man kind to shame. In the center of the library is the hold's book of grudges, which is guarded by two hammerers at all times.
The Armory
Here lies the vast treasure of the king. Suits of Gromril Armor hang from the walls, and many weapons, crafted by the greatest smiths available line the great hall. At the back of it lies the runic weapons of the hold. These weapons are only ever used when the need is dire. The amory is of course, the most well guarded place within the hold, outside of the king's throne room of course.
Runic Weapons:
The Axe of the ancestors: Inscribed on it are the runes of cleaving and fury. The weilder gains +1 strength and attack!
The hammer of vengeance: Inscribed on it are the runes of return and breaking. It can be thrown as any other throwing weapon, but it will return to the weilder's hand. Also, should it hit any magical item, the item hit will be instantly destroyed! Some items are too powerful to be destroyed though, and instead they are but drained of their power for a day. There is no way of knowing what will happen until it is hit.
The Shield of the Starbreaker: This shield is inscribed with powerful runes of protection. It gives the holder 4ap everywhere and there is a 50% chance that spells cast on the weilder will have no affect. This affects both positive and negative spells.
Blade of the Fierce Deity (+1ap all locations, +2 damage) Given to the hold by Caldath, an Ambassador from the Mesembrian Coalation. This has paid off his blood debt to the dwarven race.
The Ring of Throrin: This his ring made in the name of Throrin, one of the revered ancestors. The legendary slayer lived at the time of the war of the beard and has reached the point where there is an ancestor cult dedicated to him. These venerated ancestors are only held in lower esteem than the ancestor gods themselves. The local temple of Throrin was built in his honour, and so was this ring. It was made to protect those who wear it against missile attacks so as to avoid receiving a dishonorable death. All who attempt to fire a missle weapon at the bearer will find it hard to aim at the bearer of the ring. Only the greatest of archers can keep a steady hand when one wears this ring. Those who fire a missile weapon at the attacker will be at -20 BS. Truly great targeteers should be able to keep a steady hand, but for most it will become all but impossible to kill their foe this way.
