Lokri returned with his tankard in hand, and even as he walked through the door into his home, the clan elders were gathered in their ceremonial robes and armour,
with weapons slung over their backs and their tankards filled with ale.
Lokri handed his tankard to Kazrik, who took it away to be engraved, and Lokri (knowing the custom) drew both his axes off his back, and came forth to kneel before the feet of his clan elders.
Tarrik lifted his own axe and lain it upon one of Lokri's shoulders, then began to recite the great rites of the clan, patting his axe blade ten times on each shoulder, before falling back, and another of the elders doing the same. This was the sign of the dwarfs giving their approval that Lokri was ready, and Lokri would have to be forwarded by all the clan before he would be considered a fully qualified engineer. It is worth noting that Lokri was recieving this honour seven years early, something that non save Lokri was all to comfortable with. Yet out of his generation, Lokri was by far the most mature and the most ready to train a new batch of engineers, if he was made supervisor instead of having to be trained, he would free up the older clan members for more "important business".
After every dwarf had lain his axe upon Lokri's shoulders, it was time for the ceremonial unfurling and braiding of his beard.
Lokri walked into the next room where a bath was prepared and he stripped off and got in, he then washed his body in the water blessed by priests of Grugni, Grimnir and Valya, and ran soap over himself, especially his beard. Once he had been cleaned, he stood up, and clothed himself in a towel, then he gave a call, and the maidens of the clan came in, and began the ceremonial anointment and beard sculpture.
Soon enough Lokri's beard was braided and prepared for the maximum effect, and Lokri was places in his own ceremonial sky blue gown. He then walked into the clan feasting hall and the elders shouted some more ceremonial blessings, before Lokri came forth and was handed his tankard (which had just been engraved with his name, family and the Clan symbol), the older dwarfs filled his tankard with fine strong ale, and all placed their own tankards into a ring, with one space for Lokri to place his. Three times they clashed tankards, and three times they cheered, upon the last time, each and every dwarf in the circle downed their pint of ale as if it were water. Lokri, being no different, was given a pat on the shoulder by every dwarf, and finally handed a small golden ring, intricately inlaid with a silver knotted pattern. On the outside of the ring, the Spangelhelm emblem was to be seen, but on the inside, was a small hinge, which moved a plate of gold to show the E rune, to show Lokri was now a certified engineer. Tomorrow, Lokri would start training his beardlings.
