The Mingols
The outer forests of Kazad Dawr are protected by large stone towers, or Mingols, set along and about the road to Wisenland.
In the Duraz-Grugnaz territory, the quarry is surounded by grassy plains which are littered with large doulders and rising hills of rock.
Most of the land is only suitable to graze cattle and goats on, though there are small pockets of more fertile lands where the alliance grow cereal crops and vegetables.
These territories must be maintained with constant vigilance, and an effective early warning system.
With this in mind, a large series of Mingols (watch towers) were created. At one time the rangers of Kazad Dawr used towers all the way from Winters Teeth pass in the South East, to far past the quarry, towards Grey crag and Wisenland in the far North East.
The towers are all made of stone, circular with a single glassless window running all the way round the top, this allows the dwarf garrisoned inside it to fire in all directions, with no blind spots.
All the towers have a beacon on top, which is lit to warn of attack.
Mingol Brandok (the last outpost)
Although there is Mingol Krunk further north, (which was raised to the ground) currently, the North most Mingol in the lands of Kazad Dawr is "Mingol Brandok".
The tower was a stonework construction which rose from a cluster of boulders on the floor, its bottom is hidden by the great stones, and its only entrance is a door hidden until the password is spoken in the secret ranger dialect. The tower walls are extremly thick, so and on the accent to the top, there are only two ladders, and even then, the two dwarfs climbing up would probarbly bump shoulders often on their way up.
The pinacle of the tower is twenty foot high, and is
fashioned into a circular room with a glassless window between the top and bottom floor, allowing the soldiers garrisioned in the tower to shoot out in all directions (with no blind spots). Encapsulated in the room is a sleeping quarter with two man sized beds, and a food store which is replenished by the rangers who stay there when hunting goblins.
On the roof of the tower there is a beacon that can be seen from the quarry. This can be lit using the tinder box found in the food store.
The Plains of Oirni
Upon this more fertile area of land, the Yetzinburg
tennant farmers and dwarf land oweners form a patchwork quilt of fields with their overground houses dotted about. This area of land is patrolled by Quarry alliance rangers and a Yetzinburg militia contingent, anyone found causing mischief will soon find themselves set before the feet of Kadrik Spangelhelm.
