History of Diodore and the Keep:
Diodore is a young Brettonian who is the son of a lesser noble. As a noble of Brettonia he had trained long and hard to be a knight, and had excelled in all areas of warfare. What he lacked though, was the oppertunity to ever get land for himself. At the age of twenty he took up the lance in war as a knight's errant. In battle against a greenskin raiding party he showed his true worth, killing no less than three heavily armoured black orcs. When the battle was over, he won his spurs as a knight of the realm...unfortuantely there was no land available anywhere nearby that could be given to him. On the spur of the moment, Diodore took up the grail quest, which really was the only socially acceptable thing he could do. The next day he left his ancestreal lands, armed with the traditional greatsword that all questing knights weild. With the well wishes and praise of his fellows still fresh in his mind, he felt ready to take on the world.
He wandered aimlessly, waiting for a sign from the lady. He received nothing. A month went by and he turned twenty one, and yet still there was no sign. It was around that time that he accidently wandered into Athel Loren. He got lost in the dark woods. Sprites surrounded him and his horse panicked, taking him deeper inside. For what felt like an eternity his horse rode on, until finally he came out of the forest...with the mountains in front of him. His horse stopped and he was thrown from it. He landed hard and lost conciousness.
When he woke up he could still remember his dream vividly. In it he had crossed the mountains, heading east past dwarven lands and towards what was a fledgling town. In his dream he joined with them, offering his aid to an elf who was bathed in a mystical aura. It was then that he woke up. His horse was still there, staring up at the mountains, and more importantly a pass that lead up into them. Taking this as the sign he was looking for, he remounted his horse and prepared to do whatever was needed of him.
Upon meeting Caldath, Diodore quickly rose to being his second in command, and at the battle of the herdstone, he took over the army when Caldath dissapeared (only to reapear with a sword of god like might). During the battle he killed the general of the beastman army, only to then fall to a recently summoned daemon prince. He survived the encounter, and after the battle left to continue his grail quest. He appeared once more five years later having finished the quest.
To this day he still protects the Yetzin Valley from the Le Garrote Keep. It was built next to a small lake which has been sanctified in the name of the lady. Within the keep there are multiple shrines, the largest is to the lady, but there is one for Throrin and Sigmar, making the keep a natural place for flaggelants and slayers to go. The keep has a small guard, mostly made out of pilgrims who come to see the keep and the grail knight who protects it. The rest of the time, the force within it fluctates, as flaggelants and slayers come, only to then invade the tainted lands. This constant influx of deranged madmen has kept the worst creatues in the tainted lands from threatening the valley as a whole. Oddly enough, there is also a shrine to Isha, so once in awhile wood elves wander into the keep. While rare, their presence is always welcome as their skills can always be put to good use.
Description:
Diodore is a tall man, standing at six foot one, which compared to the browbeaten peasants of his homeland makes him look like a giant. He sports a goatee and a moustache which he always keeps perfectly trimmed. He has long, dark brown hair. He used to have bright blue eyes, but since he found the grail, his blue eyes have a golden tint to them.
He is quiet and has a peircing stare. To those who worship the lady he is awe inspiring, to others he is awe inspiring, and a bit scary. His very presence is enough to put courage into others, making him a perfect general.
